Socket Weld Flanges
Similar to slip-on flanges, Socket Weld flanges possess an internal recess on the inside diameter to facilitate the smooth flow of process fluid. The advantage of this design is a smooth bore with proper welding and grinding.
These flanges were originally intended to be used for smaller sizes of pipe at higher pressure ratings. However, today, many companies utilize these flanges for lower pressures as well. TRIA Group manufactures these flanges in carbon steel and stainless steel.
Threaded Flanges
Threaded flanges may be attached to pipes without welding, but often a seal weld may be used in conjunction with the threaded connection. This special flange is generally utilized in high pressure and smaller diameter applications.
Threaded flanges are ideal for applications in which a high degree of torque is anticipated.
